Card Challenge (And Learn About My New Fave) AND... Winner Announced For Prize Giveaway

Hey everyone....hope you are all enjoying your Wednesday. It's been quiet the busy week for me. I have had lots of errands to take care of, and so, have been out and about, BUT... I did find the time to make a new friend and catch up with old ones.

One thing that we crafty girls like to do is card challenges. We played along with a few of them.

Check it out...

For this card I played along with CAS(E) This Sketch and for the first time Fusion Card Challenge. I am loving how Fusion Card Challenge works too. (You can either use the sketch or the color combo or both).
I bought some new bright colored pens from Michael's the other day and loved how perfectly they went with the color scheme of the the Fusion Challenge and then decided to pair it with CAS(E) This sketch.

Next up I again used the Fusion Card challenge but decided to go with both color scheme and sketch. I really loved the yellow flower and wanted to really accent that color.
And finally for my third card ;) I added in Retro Sketches but still kept the Fusion color scheme...and well I actually think I hit their sketch as well...in a way! I am seeing do you????  :)....yep they may be my new fave challenge blog!
For all the card sentiments I used Sweet Stamp Shop stamps.

Sweet Stamp Shop Release Day

Hi everyone,

It is release day over at Sweet Stamp Shop. I am so thrilled to be part of such an amazing design team.
There are three new sets being released today and I will be showcasing two of them
'Wheely Like You' and 'Admit One'. These sets are too die for!!!! And as you will see I went crazy making cards with them!

>>>>So, as a BONUS-Today and Tomorrow only you will get 20% off the new releases just use coupon code NR20. Trust me it will be so hard to pass them up and worth every penny!<<<<

 Featured Cards
First up is my BRIGHT  and Colorful "Amazing You" From the 'Admit One' set. I used my watercolor pencils and created a rainbow across my card, then gave it a light mist to "activate" the blending and smoothing of the colors.

I love to add dimension and texture to my cards and projects and this one was no exception. I stamped and trimmed out the "admit one" ticket and the" amazing" sentiment, they fit so perfectly, don't you think?

Next up is "Proud Of You" which proudly showcases the big pinwheels from 'Wheely Like You'
Those pinwheels are irresistible and so much fun to use.

Here are some more card from both of the sets:

I love small cards, something about them is just so cute, and what a great way to use one of the smaller stamps in a stamp set and make it into a background.

Are you not loving the stamps so far....?!?!??!

How about that one dimension (or almost lol)??? I am so in love with the arrows, not only are they hot and ubber popular but they can be used in so many different ways and for so many different things. I definitely think we are right on target.

What's your take on long cards???? I love it! Plus, mixing up shapes can take you from same ol same ol to WOW!!! It's unexpected and makes for a fun and unique card. Try it sometime, there are so many ways to change up the shape. On the next one I went with extra long and skinny. I wanted the wow to really stand out because life really is WOW, so I embossed with multiple colors and pop dotted it to really make it a focal.

I just loved the stamps so much I had to keep making more...the arrows were just to cute to leave alone, I HAD to use them again. You know that feeling, right?!?!?!?

And...how about those pinwheels? To cute to pass up, I think so. To keep with the theme I decided to make my own pinwheel, it made for the perfect amount of dimension.

I really think that this stamp set came at the perfect time, being fair season and all, I really think that they will be so perfect for page layouts. Just wait til you see the whole set. I had to stop myself from making another 8 cards. I even had plans for a baby card. lol

Unfortunate Miss

I do not know how this did not make it onto my blog LAST MONTH!!!! WHAT?!?!? WAIT...it is May now huh??? :( sorry this was from March eeekkkkk!!!!

It was a crazy month or so, with the announcement of our store closing and then breaking news to customers it has been a bit crazy...but, now that it is all calming down and me reflecting, I realized I TOTALLY forgot and I apologize.

I did some more guest design work for Sweet Stamp Shop at the end of March. Click HERE to see the post on "Sweets" blog.

Here are a few of the cards I made for the release...

Sweet Guest Designer

I am so excited to share that I am a guest designing today over at Sweet Stamp Shop!!!
I have created a few little extras here on my blog, showcasing some of the newest released stamp sets.

The two sets I worked with were

Here is what I came up with:

I love rainbow colored "stuff" and am a HUGE fan of the chevron so it only made perfect sense to make a rainbow chevron background. To keep with the theme I zig zag stitched the strips down the sides for some fun added texture and then embellished the heck out of it lol.
Using pattern paper to make a chevron pattern is a great way to keep the pattern consistent but bring extra layers and a fun element
Once again more bright rainbow colors. It is so fun to use your spray mists to create your own custom "patterned" paper. Just flick a bunch of colors all over til you achieve the look you want. AND how fun are those stamps!!! I LOVE the little Let's Chat memo card. I, also, couldn't have been happier with the way the gold/black embossed rotary spin dial came out.
On this one I used the phone cord as my background in various shades of pink. Then added LOTS of fun little embellishments.

For more inspiration, check out my flickr here, (I posted a bunch more pictures that are totally worth looking at :) and to see me on Sweet Stamp Shop here.
Thank You for stopping by and see you all soon

Fun with Clear Embossing Powder

One of my favorite things to do is heat emboss when I stamp. I also LOVE LOVE LOVE heat embossing on unlikely surfaces, such as picture frames, home decor wood pieces, and more. I also love to emboss even when  I am not stamping. You can make a fun distressed edges to your cards, mini albums, or page layouts...pretty much heat embossing is the COOLEST and you should be doing it too. But, this could be quite the investment if you are new to this, so my recommendation: Buy a bottle of fine clear embossing powder. You can use it with any color ink you own and it will show that color, like below, use pink ink and emboss with clear you get pink embossed! That is what is so AWESOME about it, you don't have to go out and buy tons and tons of different colors right away just a clear and that's it.
Here is some fun I had with my clear
I used the Sparkle N Sprinkle clear embossing powder (they make great embossing powders! The fine powder doesn't blur the image and keeps it crisp and clean.)

I then stamped my image using the Pattern Craze set from Sweet Stamp Shop in various colors and embossed them using the clear. See how cool that is, the color just pops

Just for fun, to finish it off I  sprayed it with some glimmer mist, wrapped some twine and added a brad.
Here is another card I did using black ink and clear embossing.

Well hoped you enjoyed the glorious reason why you should now invest in clear embossing powder.

Until next time :)

Inspired by Love

Well this is a better late then never kinda post...

So normally my husband and I are really good about exchanging Valentines. I normally make a Valentine for him and he usually buys me a treat...and for anyone who knows me, treats are the way to my heart. WELL this year the beautiful season of LOVE completely escaped us. Not only did we forget to get our boys Valentines for school but we did not do anything for each other. BUT....that didn't stop me from creating something, because, at the end of the day there is always next year!!!! Wahoo!!!

Here is what I did
On the first card I kept it light, playful, and fun I just love the way that this card came out. I used some of my favorite products (glimmer mist and distress stains) and techniques (distressing edges and making pennants).

After distressing the edges of the hearts I inked the edges of them to make them stand out just a bit from each other.

On this one I decided to do some fun watermark stamping to give the card a nice subtle background, then added some washi tapes and couple little embellishments and TADAA...
Check out the hearts a little more up close. I love doing this on plain cardstock to give it a fun custom background.

Hope you have been inspired by Love!
