Card Challenge (And Learn About My New Fave) AND... Winner Announced For Prize Giveaway

Hey everyone....hope you are all enjoying your Wednesday. It's been quiet the busy week for me. I have had lots of errands to take care of, and so, have been out and about, BUT... I did find the time to make a new friend and catch up with old ones.

One thing that we crafty girls like to do is card challenges. We played along with a few of them.

Check it out...

For this card I played along with CAS(E) This Sketch and for the first time Fusion Card Challenge. I am loving how Fusion Card Challenge works too. (You can either use the sketch or the color combo or both).
I bought some new bright colored pens from Michael's the other day and loved how perfectly they went with the color scheme of the the Fusion Challenge and then decided to pair it with CAS(E) This sketch.

Next up I again used the Fusion Card challenge but decided to go with both color scheme and sketch. I really loved the yellow flower and wanted to really accent that color.
And finally for my third card ;) I added in Retro Sketches but still kept the Fusion color scheme...and well I actually think I hit their sketch as well...in a way! I am seeing do you????  :)....yep they may be my new fave challenge blog!
For all the card sentiments I used Sweet Stamp Shop stamps.

Case Study #144

I love crafting with friends, and my good friend Tori came over so we could get our craft on.

Case Study #144 it was:

I knew I wanted bold colors and simplistic look so  I cracked out my Tim Holtz ink pads and decided to go with a watercolor-ish styled background. So, a little dabbing on my craft mat with a light spritzing of water and a press of the paper and you have a beautiful "watercolor-ish" background. If you want it to have a stronger meld of colors just spritz a heavier coating. I love doing this technique because really play around with the inks and water to get different effects. I stamped a peacock feather on top with some staz-on ink. For dimension I added some little jewels and a sentiment.

Our inspiration

My Take
And both of ours together. I am so in LOVE with how Tori's came out. Wanna know how she did her background? Head on over to her blog to find out at Tiny Bits Of Something.

Wedding Bells

Whoa it has been scorching hot here in S. Cali, my phone said it was upper 90's yesterday with the "real feel"  in the 100's!!! Yikes! Well anyways, hope everyone is enjoying their spring weather wherever you are.

It is definitely getting into that time of year when it is weddings galore, so I used that as my inspiration for this card. I had been eye-ing some Teresa Collins borders at work for some time and decided it was time to get them and they worked perfect for this card. Just layered them up added a SRM sticker for the sentiment and finished off with a touch of ribbon for added dimension.

Have a great day and happy crafting

Tye Dye Effect

Good Morning!!!! Well it is rainy here today (kind of nice since it has been so dry!) But that didn't stop me from thinking of bright sunshiny days and all the beautiful colors that come with it.

Check out this fun and cheerful card that was inspired by tye dye.

I used the summer collection of Tim Holtz Distress Inks to create the background color and then to create the spots I added some of my new favorite spray from Art Anthology "Glorious" (yellow color) and also some of the Dylusions "Yellow Zest". Is that not just the funnest effect ever. I normally use the water, but decided to change it up a bit and see what I could get from the colored sprays. I just love you bright this is and so tye dye-ee!!  What do you guys think???

And, the white letters mmmm... they add that little extra pop to the card!
I have found that the lighter colored sprays give the best effect but the dark ones still look awesome. Now go pull out all your distress inks and your sprays and give it a go!!! Let me know what you all think :)

Have a wonderful day,
xoxo

Cards In A Minute

Have you ever forgotten someone's birthday? I know I have! Or, maybe you have been thinking about someone? Well if you are like me, busy busy, then you probably don't always have the time to just sit down and make something for FUN :)  But last night I decided to take a little break from all my work stuff and make some quick, fun, and super easy cards "in a minute" to have in my stash for those "oops, forgotten birthdays" or the "I love you so much" types of things. They look like like you thought about it but not so involved that you have to give them to just the right person because you don't want them just thrown in the trash.

So here is what I did
A few different washi tapes, ribbon, SRM sticker, and ink splats, and black pen. I just layered and staggered a few different patterns of washi up from the bottom corner. Then added the "Just Because" SRM sticker. Since I used white cardstock I felt it needed a little something for the background, especially since I was using just the bottom corner, so I added some orange spatter marks. Found some yellow ribbon, tied in a knot and adhered down. AND...to finish it off I drew double pen lines around the edge of the card to bring your focus in.
I did the above card as a 4x4 so I had a remaining 4x4 square piece left over (this was using a 12x12 piece of paper)

So, not to waste my little leftover piece I decided to make a cute little 4x2 card.
Mustaches are so hot right now and I am loving it! I decided my next card would be using a wood mustache piece embossed with hot pink embossing powder for a bright pop of color.

Check it out
To add texture and pop to the background I stamped a little heart all over from Sweet Stamp Shops newest release then added a little bit of the crystal stickle to a few of the hearts, plus a cute little SRM sticker and finished off with some pen lines to add a frame.

Look at that bright bright pink mustache...so fun huh??? Also what an element of surprise. No one expects a pink mustache. Really you could do it in any sort of fun color, green, blue, purple, yellow.

Literally these cards took minutes to make and what a way to make someone feel like you took the time to really make something special for them. Honestly, too, I could have probably spent more time in the card aisle trying to find that "perfect card" then making both of these together lol.

Happy Day To You,
xoxo

How Do You Ride Your Bicyle

Hopefully FAST!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well unless you are on your beach cruiser and taking in the salt air, then maybe not so fast.

Well when I first saw this stamp set from Sweet Stamp Shop

I thought it would be so fun use the phone cord unconventionally. I found this cute little bicycle, I believe, is from Cosmo Cricket and thought instantly it would be really cute to make it look like tire marks. This is what I came up with
and...every fast bike needs a flag too. :) To add more dimension to the "tire marks" I embossed with clear powder. Keeping to my colorful, sparkly nature I misted the background and add some stickles to the bicycle. Add some washi pennants and VIOLA you have an adorable card.

Go on and get crafty

Shine On

I went a little green crazy this time, but, green is my favorite color so I was more than happy to go a little overboard.  But here is my inspiration for my card Challenge: Retro Sketches and Simon Says Stamp "Bit O Green"

Here is my take on this

Look at all that green. I didn't really have a plan for much, all I knew is I had to use that super cute rainbow stamp from Sweet Stamp Shop. I tried a few different things...well...actually a lot of different things...lol but I was determined to make that rainbow work for me and after cutting and arranging and rearranging different papers and "stuff" I FINALLY had the perfect backdrop for my rainbow.
This was so fun to glitter and then I added white flower soft to the clouds, it was the perfect touch to finish the rainbow off. Then, to add some extra pop I added some yellow. It is so complimentary to the greens but adds a nice little something something.

So go ahead shine on!!!

Sweet Guest Designer

I am so excited to share that I am a guest designing today over at Sweet Stamp Shop!!!
I have created a few little extras here on my blog, showcasing some of the newest released stamp sets.

The two sets I worked with were

Here is what I came up with:

I love rainbow colored "stuff" and am a HUGE fan of the chevron so it only made perfect sense to make a rainbow chevron background. To keep with the theme I zig zag stitched the strips down the sides for some fun added texture and then embellished the heck out of it lol.
Using pattern paper to make a chevron pattern is a great way to keep the pattern consistent but bring extra layers and a fun element
Once again more bright rainbow colors. It is so fun to use your spray mists to create your own custom "patterned" paper. Just flick a bunch of colors all over til you achieve the look you want. AND how fun are those stamps!!! I LOVE the little Let's Chat memo card. I, also, couldn't have been happier with the way the gold/black embossed rotary spin dial came out.
On this one I used the phone cord as my background in various shades of pink. Then added LOTS of fun little embellishments.

For more inspiration, check out my flickr here, (I posted a bunch more pictures that are totally worth looking at :) and to see me on Sweet Stamp Shop here.
Thank You for stopping by and see you all soon

Challenge Time

My friend Nicole and I got to together the other morning to do another fun card challenge...And once again still LOVIN it! And this one, I am pretty excited about, not only did I love what I made but the sponsor for this challenge is SRM and who ever wins gets a prize package from SRM!!!!! EEKK pressure is on, plus, I could always use some SRM  :)

So let's get to the card...

This is what we drew our inspiration from: The Play Date Cafe:
I was instantly in love with the color scheme. The bold tangerine with the apricot and mint, so clean and crisp with the vintage appeal. TOTALLY up my alley.

The first card I was trying to make was pretty much a fail, but, once I re-schemed, it instantly came together.

Here is what I came up with:

I used the Heidi Swapp color shine in Apricot for the background on the white. SUCH a perfect pop.

Now a bit closer to see the fun details :)
I embossed a SWEET stamp for the sentiment

Then added layers of ribbons, buttons and flowers! TA-DAA a beautiful masterpiece was created (at least in my opinion lol)

Hope you enjoyed the latest challenge.

XOXO

Card Challenge Amazingness....

So, as most of you know, blogging in pretty new to me, BUT my friend Nicole (you may know her from Sweet Stamp Shop) is a PRO. We decided to get together for a fun craft night in her super amazing craft room (so jealous lol) and she introduced me for the first time to CARD CHALLENGES! Let me tell you what, I think I am hooked. What a great way to get inspirtion and challenge yourself to design and create.

Our first challenge of the night was from CASE STUDY

And this was our inspiration, designed by Teri Anderson

I Loved the color scheme ,but I also love the the circle grid on top so I decided to play with those two ideas and this is what I came up  with

SO, thanks to all the wonderful supplies Nicole had, I created this masterpiece. I am really loving it!Some of my favorite things to work with are wood pieces and the hello heart totally finished it off. It has layers, dimension and most importantly naturalness :)

Up next was our "White On White" challenge from Simon Says Stamps

I really loved the challenge of making something only using white, and since there are, ironically, so many shades of white out there there is really endless possibilities.

This is what I ended up with and I couldn't be happier with it.

I again used some wood pieces, the hearts are from Freckled Fawn, stumbled up a fun little technique by accident. Since this challenge was an all white challenge i needed my wood pieced to be white, so, I used some white re-inker and when I went to pick it up I dropped it upside down...ooops...but that led to the fun heart background that you see in the picture. In a nutshell, I used the heart as a stamp!!!

OOO I felt so clever and it was the perfect texture that this white challenge needed!

Now go get crafty!!!

Inspired by Love

Well this is a better late then never kinda post...

So normally my husband and I are really good about exchanging Valentines. I normally make a Valentine for him and he usually buys me a treat...and for anyone who knows me, treats are the way to my heart. WELL this year the beautiful season of LOVE completely escaped us. Not only did we forget to get our boys Valentines for school but we did not do anything for each other. BUT....that didn't stop me from creating something, because, at the end of the day there is always next year!!!! Wahoo!!!

Here is what I did
On the first card I kept it light, playful, and fun I just love the way that this card came out. I used some of my favorite products (glimmer mist and distress stains) and techniques (distressing edges and making pennants).

After distressing the edges of the hearts I inked the edges of them to make them stand out just a bit from each other.

On this one I decided to do some fun watermark stamping to give the card a nice subtle background, then added some washi tapes and couple little embellishments and TADAA...
Check out the hearts a little more up close. I love doing this on plain cardstock to give it a fun custom background.

Hope you have been inspired by Love!
