Card Challenge (And Learn About My New Fave) AND... Winner Announced For Prize Giveaway

Hey everyone....hope you are all enjoying your Wednesday. It's been quiet the busy week for me. I have had lots of errands to take care of, and so, have been out and about, BUT... I did find the time to make a new friend and catch up with old ones.

One thing that we crafty girls like to do is card challenges. We played along with a few of them.

Check it out...

For this card I played along with CAS(E) This Sketch and for the first time Fusion Card Challenge. I am loving how Fusion Card Challenge works too. (You can either use the sketch or the color combo or both).
I bought some new bright colored pens from Michael's the other day and loved how perfectly they went with the color scheme of the the Fusion Challenge and then decided to pair it with CAS(E) This sketch.

Next up I again used the Fusion Card challenge but decided to go with both color scheme and sketch. I really loved the yellow flower and wanted to really accent that color.
And finally for my third card ;) I added in Retro Sketches but still kept the Fusion color scheme...and well I actually think I hit their sketch as well...in a way! I am seeing do you????  :)....yep they may be my new fave challenge blog!
For all the card sentiments I used Sweet Stamp Shop stamps.

Ok... so now that we have Throw Back Thursdays mapped out check out my masking project I designed for you...

Have you ever wondered how to get that look, where it seems like the stamps are stamped on top of each other but don't touch? Maybe like a dimensional look? Or something is inside of something?

Like this card for example using Jars of Sweet set and Kiss Me (for the "Sweet" sentiment)
You see how it looks like the blue jar is in FRONT of the pink jars?

Well I am going to teach you in three EASY steps how to get that look. Check it out my friends

Here's how:
Stamp your image on the card and then stamp it again on a scratch piece of paper. Carefully trim around the second image. HINT: Make sure to get right on the outer part of the stamped line.
Using removable adhesive, stick down your image you just trimmed out and place over the exact image on your card. You can now stamp your next images right on top. HINT: If you do not have removable adhesive, sticky notes work really well for this or you can stick permanent adhesive to your clothing to take away some of the tackiness.
Remove your mask AND Viola! The image you first stamped is now sitting in front of the second image stamped. So what do you think??? Easy huh??? HINT: Don't throw away the mask you just made! You may need it for the future, simply stick to the outside of the acetate of your stamp set.

Just add embellishments and a sentiment and you have a beautifully masked card.

Jars of Sweets is so versatile and so much fun to play with. I even made a Cotton Candy inspired card. Summer colors are so much fun to play with, bright, cheerful and oh so happy!

Or how about woodgrain with acetate over lay?
Did you see my Jars of Sweets from Tuesday's blog post! It has more of that elegance factor! Check it out HERE!

Sweet Stamp Shop Release Day

Hi everyone,

It is release day over at Sweet Stamp Shop. I am so thrilled to be part of such an amazing design team.
There are three new sets being released today and I will be showcasing two of them
'Wheely Like You' and 'Admit One'. These sets are too die for!!!! And as you will see I went crazy making cards with them!

>>>>So, as a BONUS-Today and Tomorrow only you will get 20% off the new releases just use coupon code NR20. Trust me it will be so hard to pass them up and worth every penny!<<<<

 Featured Cards
First up is my BRIGHT  and Colorful "Amazing You" From the 'Admit One' set. I used my watercolor pencils and created a rainbow across my card, then gave it a light mist to "activate" the blending and smoothing of the colors.

I love to add dimension and texture to my cards and projects and this one was no exception. I stamped and trimmed out the "admit one" ticket and the" amazing" sentiment, they fit so perfectly, don't you think?

Next up is "Proud Of You" which proudly showcases the big pinwheels from 'Wheely Like You'
Those pinwheels are irresistible and so much fun to use.

Here are some more card from both of the sets:

I love small cards, something about them is just so cute, and what a great way to use one of the smaller stamps in a stamp set and make it into a background.

Are you not loving the stamps so far....?!?!??!

How about that one dimension (or almost lol)??? I am so in love with the arrows, not only are they hot and ubber popular but they can be used in so many different ways and for so many different things. I definitely think we are right on target.

What's your take on long cards???? I love it! Plus, mixing up shapes can take you from same ol same ol to WOW!!! It's unexpected and makes for a fun and unique card. Try it sometime, there are so many ways to change up the shape. On the next one I went with extra long and skinny. I wanted the wow to really stand out because life really is WOW, so I embossed with multiple colors and pop dotted it to really make it a focal.

I just loved the stamps so much I had to keep making more...the arrows were just to cute to leave alone, I HAD to use them again. You know that feeling, right?!?!?!?

And...how about those pinwheels? To cute to pass up, I think so. To keep with the theme I decided to make my own pinwheel, it made for the perfect amount of dimension.

I really think that this stamp set came at the perfect time, being fair season and all, I really think that they will be so perfect for page layouts. Just wait til you see the whole set. I had to stop myself from making another 8 cards. I even had plans for a baby card. lol

Case Study #144

I love crafting with friends, and my good friend Tori came over so we could get our craft on.

Case Study #144 it was:

I knew I wanted bold colors and simplistic look so  I cracked out my Tim Holtz ink pads and decided to go with a watercolor-ish styled background. So, a little dabbing on my craft mat with a light spritzing of water and a press of the paper and you have a beautiful "watercolor-ish" background. If you want it to have a stronger meld of colors just spritz a heavier coating. I love doing this technique because really play around with the inks and water to get different effects. I stamped a peacock feather on top with some staz-on ink. For dimension I added some little jewels and a sentiment.

Our inspiration

My Take
And both of ours together. I am so in LOVE with how Tori's came out. Wanna know how she did her background? Head on over to her blog to find out at Tiny Bits Of Something.

Whew!!!!

Well it is now the end of an era, I am officially unemployed as of today (and hopefully for not too long tho)! Time to get all caught up, FINALLY!
It's amazing how quickly your life can change...excited for the "New World" and all the new changes!

To kick it all off my oldest sons birthday is on the 5th and he will be celebrating his 8th birthday with friends. He has been asking me for a couple years to have a birthday with friends and this is the year! I knew I would have the time to do it since I was going to be unemployed and would have the time to dedicate to it to prepare. To ease myself into it we decided we would keep it mild and invite just a few of his closest friends (It's so different to be the parent hosting the party then the kid attending the party, so much to think about and be responsible for...eeekkk)

I made the invites for the party and my son was soooo thrilled with them and couldnt wait to give them to his friends. (Proud mommy moment here lol)

I did some fun stamping on vellum and found a birthday sentiment that fit perfectly on the card. I added some fun layers and finished it off with some red and white twine from The Twinery. On the inside I placed one of the SRM's "you're invited" stickers. I didn't have any envelopes handy for the card size so I used the new Kraft Envelopes from SRM. The cards fit inside like a glove.

Now just to figure out cupcakes and game prizes and we will be all set for the party!!!!

Have a wonderful day everyone.
xoxo
